Meghan Pfau

Hi everyone! My name is Meghan and I am so excited to share with you my experiences on the Hill this upcoming year. I finished my finals exams a couple days ago and flew back to my hometown of Madison, Wisconsin yesterday. On the plane ride home I reflected on my first few months here. It is crazy to think I have been here for just a few months- I feel like I have met so many people, spent so many nights in the library, and experienced so much! In my reflection of first semester I compiled a list of my THREE favorite places on campus thus far after THREE months of exploring Holy Cross!
1) The Mary Chapel
The Mary Chapel is the “lower chapel” where night-time masses are held at Holy Cross. It is smaller than the St. Joseph Chapel, the more well-known and larger church located above the Mary Chapel. I love going to 7pm or 9pm Mass on Sundays in the lower chapel following a long dinner at Kimball (the main dining hall) catching up on everyone’s weekends. Sunday night Mass is casual and a social time for students to come together!
2) Kimball Dining Hall
I love to go to Kimball because it is a great place to catch up with friends. Since it is the main dining hall on campus it is always busy, especially at dinner time. On Sundays I find myself staying in Kimball for hours talking and refilling my frozen yogurt bowl again and again!

3) “The stacks”

As a first-year student I have experimented with study spots a lot and have realized “the stacks” are my favorite place to study for a Spanish test or power through an essay. This study area in Dinand library consists of cubicles and some “comfy chairs” tucked away and hidden between shelves of books.

Thanks for reading about my three favorite places in these first three months- I will check in again after winter break!
